If the X flood zone is shaded that means the area has a moderate risk of flooding, with a 0.2% annual chance of flooding (also known as the 500-year floodplain). If the X flood zone is unshaded the area has a minimal risk of flooding, with less than a 0.2% annual chance of flooding. Unshaded flood zone X is outside the 500-year floodplain and is considered to have a low risk of flooding.
